Classification, materials, and selection instructions for protective films

1. Classification of protective films

According to the purpose of protective films, they can be divided into digital product protective films, automotive protective films, household protective films, and food preservation protective films.

2. Material of protective film

The materials of protective film mainly include the following:

PET material: refers to polyester film, which has a relatively hard texture and is therefore more scratch resistant. Even if used for a long time, it will not produce oil. PET protective film generally relies on electrostatic adsorption on the surface of the protected surface, making it prone to detachment or foaming. However, it does not require cutting and can be used directly.

AR material: It is a synthetic material that can be divided into three layers. The bottom layer is a silicone layer, the middle layer is PET, and the surface layer is a special treatment layer. The special treatment layer can be divided into AG treatment layer and HC treatment layer. AG is treated through anti glare treatment, and HC is treated through hardness treatment. The characteristic of this material is that it does not reflect light, has high transparency, is relatively soft in texture, and has good friction resistance and scratch resistance. It is adsorbed onto the screen through silicone and will not leave any marks after tearing it off.

PE material: The texture is relatively soft, with a certain degree of stretchability, and there are different levels of stickiness, which can be selected according to needs. The protective film made of PE material can also be divided into electrostatic film, mesh film, etc.

OPP material: similar to PET protective film, with high hardness and certain flame retardancy, but poor adhesion effect, so it is rarely used.

3. Selection of protective film

(1) Different stickies should be selected based on different surface requirements.

(2) The subsequent processing of the protective film includes bending, stamping, cutting, drilling, and hot forming, which can affect the adhesion of the protective film and are therefore crucial.

(3) The thickness and viscosity of the protective film should be reasonably matched, and its tensile strength and elongation should meet the usage requirements.
